Using MiraHEN (Homebrew ENabler) on 5.05 systems

PS4 "Jailbreak" requires very little to execute however it is not a permanant solution as it will be lost if you power down the console. In the event that the DNS goes down it is possible to self host the exploit (see section "Steps for hosting the exploit"). Before continuing you'll need to update your PS4 to firmware 5.05 if you haven't alrady. A USB drive with 500MB of free space is required.

Steps for running the exploit

  1. Go to the PS4's settings and change the following
  2. Go to "Settings" -> "User's Guide/Helpful Info" and open "User's Guide". This will launch the exploit selector
  3. Go to "5.05" and run "Blocker" to disable updates. This may crash your console. This is permanant and does not need to be run again.
  4. Press "PS Button" and launch the exploit selector again.
  5. Go to "5.05" and run "Mira + Hen"
  6. Your system is now "jailbroken". Under the settings menu you'll now have "☆Debug Settings".

Do not enable IDU-mode in debug settings. This may softbrick your console.

Post "jailbreak" tools

Web Browser

If you don't have the web browser enabled it can be activated by running the exploit selector and running "Enable-Browser". On 5.05 this must be self hosted (see section below).

FTP

Launch the exploit selector and run "FTP". Note the IP address and enter it into you FTP client of choice. See below for some reccomended clients

Installing homebrew and installing backups

To install .pkg files place them on the root of a USB device and go "Settings" -> "☆Debug Settings" -> "Game" -> "Package Installer" and select the .pkg you wish to install. On each boot all programmes will be locked. You will need to run HEN to unlock them. The lock may persist but they will be unlocked.
